What is S.O.S?

The S.O.S programme is a ten-day Christian service experience run by, for and with young people. It is funded by sponsorship from the Salesians of Don Bosco Office of Youth Ministry and also partly through fundraising. The programme is open to young adults who are members of any Salesian School, Parish, Youth Club or Youth Centre and are aged 17 to 22.

S.O.S is a community based experience. Each day, different service projects are visited and young people are actively involved in a variety of situations. Journaling, reflection and processing of the days experiences occurs individually and collectively, formally and informally. Throughout the experience, formal and informal education and formation will accompany the programme, with various workshops and inputs.

Much of the S.O.S program follows Don Bosco’s teaching methods and ways of working with young people. The young people will learn through prayer, celebration and just by being with each other. Young people will be encouraged to express their feelings and emotions of the day as well as be given opportunities to pray and reflect on their day.
